But throughout the generations Gabe’s has remained faithful to the art of smoking meat. Each generation has passed their secret technique to the next and overtime we’ve truly perfected delicious, handcrafted meat. Because the meat is smoked, we do not have to use chemicals to preserve it. You’ll notice a bold savory natural taste with each of our products. Indulge without out the guilt.

Discover our Story

We have history and we’re proud of it. The store front was originally purchased in Maple City, MI. The building had been empty for years. The new owners Mike and Kathy Gabourie gave it new life by establishing Gabe’s Country Smoked Meats in 1987.

Mike was especially proud of what Gabe’s had turned into. It truly meant something to him to take something out of nothing and create a business that helped support the communities needs.

Kathy and Mike’s work never ended. They put countless hours into the store seven days a week. Every part of the business received ambiguous attention, from ordering products to selling products. One thing they put extra love into was their smoked meats and meat products. This became Gabe’s crowning jewel. For the next 32 years they dedicated their lives to building and growing Gabe’s.

One of Mike and Kathy’s favorite things about starting Gabe’s was that they were able to make so many beautiful relationships along the way. They enjoyed getting to know their community and serve them over the years. “We made another whole family,” Mike Gabourie proclaimed.

In 2019 Kathy and Mike’s legacy continued when their son Mike Gabourie purchased the bustling business from them. He continues their hard work and dedication to the establishment.

You can find Mike at Gabe’s daily. He participates in every part of the process at the store to ensure the best quality. He spends hours butchering, trimming, processing, prepping, cooking, and smoking meat.

Over the years of working at Gabe’s, Mike has perfected excellent smoking and cooking recipes. When you purchase meat from Gabe’s, you can rest assured that you’re purchasing meat from an expert. He will smoke away the competition. On average they sell 106,383 lbs of meat annually.
